FERPA Privacy Notice

What is FERPA?

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), 20 U.S.C. § 1232g, is a federal law that affords students certain rights with respect to their education records. These rights are held by the student once they are enrolled. Tangible Bible College (TBC) and Consummare High School ("the institutions") comply fully with FERPA.

Your Rights Under FERPA

• Right to Inspect: You have the right to inspect and review your education records within 45 days of submitting a written request to the Registrar.
• Right to Request Amendment: You have the right to request that the institution amend records you believe are inaccurate, misleading, or in violation of your privacy rights.
• Right to Consent to Disclosure: You have the right to consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information (PII) from your education records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent.
• Right to File a Complaint: You have the right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education regarding an alleged failure by the institution to comply with FERPA requirements.

Education Records

Education records include, but are not limited to:

• Academic transcripts and grade records
• Enrollment records
• Financial records (tuition payments)
• Course registration and schedules
• Test results and assessment scores
• Disciplinary records
• Admissions applications
• Student identification information

Disclosure of Education Records

The institutions will not disclose personally identifiable information from a student's education records without prior written consent, except in the following circumstances permitted by FERPA:

• To school officials with a legitimate educational interest
• To another school to which the student is transferring
• To specified officials for audit or evaluation purposes
• In connection with financial aid
• To comply with a judicial order or lawfully issued subpoena
• In health or safety emergencies

Directory Information

The institutions designate the following as "Directory Information," which may be disclosed without consent unless the student submits a written opt-out request to the Registrar:

• Student name
• Enrollment status
• Dates of enrollment
• Program / degree sought
• Institution attended

To withhold directory information from disclosure, students must submit a written opt-out request to the Registrar's Office. The opt-out will remain in effect until rescinded in writing.

Transcript Access & Audit Logging

All access to official academic transcripts is logged with the date, time, and identity of the accessing party. Students may request a copy of their transcript access log at any time by contacting the Registrar. Administrators who view or modify transcript records are identified by name and logged automatically in the system.
